Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) for events & theatre
I specialise in testing theatrical and events equipment (for hire companies, venues, DJs, bands), mainly covering Dundee & Angus (Forfar, Kirriemuir, Brechin, Arbroath) but can travel further afield if required.
As part of the Portable Appliance Testing process, I will: inspect and perform the relevant tests on your electrical equipment, label them accordingly with pass/fail stickers, rewire or replace plugs if necessary (I can supply plugs & fuses at cost plus delivery), advise you on repairs if required and issue you with a PDF of the test results upon payment.
I’m not going to chop off your theatre light 15A plugs, unlike other PAT companies.
I normally charge a callout fee (depending on your location) plus a per-item fee of £1.60 for single-phase items, and £3.90 for 3-phase items. I’m happy to discuss an hourly rate if you have a large amount of items that require testing; this is often mutually beneficial especially if any repairs need to be carried out.
What needs tested
If you are an employer, landlord, venue owner, supplier or hire company you have a duty of care to ensure the safety of your employees, tenants, customers and the public who use or come into contact with your electrical appliances/cabling. Your insurance company may also require you to make sure your equipment is regularly tested.
